On August 11, 2018 Del Mar Summer Concert Series welcomed five time GRAMMY winner Ziggy Marley. Opening up the show was Ginger Roots and The Protectors, a local acoustic band from Encinitas. The lead singer has a unique look and voice that really draws you in. How did he get that hat to stay in place on those gorgeous ginger dreads? Ginger Roots played their original music as well as a few covers, like “Feelin’ Good” with a sultry reggae spin on it… amazing.

If you looked to the right side of the stage, you would see live painter Jimmy Ovadia with his magic brush. Ovadia is well known here in San Diego, painting for many artists and festivals. It is quite mesmerizing to watch Ovadia vibing to the music and creating another masterpiece in just a couple of hours.

Proud dad, Ziggy gave his kids fist bumps as they headed off to watch the rest of the show from the side.

The crowd anxiously awaits Ziggy to take the stage with a Ziggy chant. Ziggy Marley, son of legendary Bob Marley, and a five-time GRAMMY Award winner is a humble artist, who shares the spotlight with his bandmates and family. That’s right, the Marley kids were out there on stage singing “World Revolution” from Ziggy’s 7th solo album, Rebellion Rises. The positivity and love radiated off the stage from this performance. Proud dad, Ziggy gave his kids fist bumps as they headed off to watch the rest of the show from the side. Ziggy Marley performed a few off his new album and fan favorites “We Are the People”, “Fly Rasta”, “True to Myself”, “Wild And Free” , and “Beach In Hawaii”. Of course, he performed tribute to his father, Bob Marley with “Get Up Stand Up”, “Is This Love?” and “One Love”. Hearing the fans sing every word, vibing with the positive energy that was flowing off the stage from Ziggy and the band was truly a majestic experience.
