Cali Roots announces final 2018 artists
Today’s the day. It’s finally here – the fourth and final installment of the 2018 California Roots lineup! This year artist reveals went down a little differently, allowing the avid reggae and rap enthusiast to see what each day’s rundowns were way ahead of schedule. (Normally, this information is unveiled the week or two leading up to the fest, forcing attendees to guess which day might be their favorite.) That being said, everyone who has been following the 9th Annual Cali Roots hype knows which slots remain open for final artists: a headlining Friday spot, along with a direct support and opener; two Saturday mid slots; and three Sunday times throughout the day’s trajectory.
Just when you thought Cali Roots couldn’t get any better from the year before, a lineup like this happens.
Well, without further ado, let's dive into Cali Roots 2018! Completing the Memorial Day Weekend, May 25th-27th in Monterey, California is [drum roll] veteran headliner Iration closing down Night One alongside rap aficionado Atmosphere! Earlier in the day will feature bay area rap colossal E40 and psychedelic reggae fusion band Ocean Alley. That’s right, Yay Areaaaaaa in the house! Latin/hip hop influenced Ozomatli joins Saturday with another equally hard band to pronounce, Xiuhtezoatl. Last, but certainly not least, are Cali Roots seasoned vets Tribal Seeds, Australian’s top one-woman band Tash Sultana and Canada’s finest in hip hop/reggae DARENOTS, returning in their second year.
Naturally, these artists are additions to the ones broadcasted in the three prior announcements: Rebelution, Slightly Stoopid, Dispatch, 311, Steel Pulse, Atmosphere, Stephen Marley, J Boog, Fortunate Youth, The Green, Xavier Rudd, Chronixx, Alpha Blondy, HIRIE, Brother Ali, Trevor Hall, The Holdup, The Original Wailers, Mike Love, Raging Fyah, New Kingston, Sammy J, The Movement, The Hip Abduction, Anuhea, Tropidelic and The Ries Brothers. Just when you thought Cali Roots couldn’t get any better from the year before, a lineup like this happens.
