Dub Rockers Compilation Volume 1 out now

Dub Rockers Various Artists Volume 1

VP Records in partnership with Vans, who has brought you the iconic skater kicks you probably have in your closet, just released its debut reggae compilation titled Dub Rockers - Various Artists - Volume 1.  VP Records has noted and recognized a shift in the niche reggae genre which has a much more substantial American following year over year with new American, Jamaican and Hawaiian fusion bands forming at a steady pace.  The goal behind the Dub Rockers compilation is to bridge the gap between action sports enthusiasts and reggae music.  The partnership with Vans only makes sense considering its apparel has been the center of action sports since the very beginnings.

we come from the action/sports world, they come from the reggae world so bridging gaps is very meaningful to both parties

“This relationship has many marketing opportunities: we can do shows, create products together but most important is the relationship to authenticity; we come from the action/sports world, they come from the reggae world so bridging gaps is very meaningful to both parties,” says the founder of Vans’ Music Program, Kurt Soto.

This ten track compilation isn’t your typical potpourri of tracks from various albums thrown together. The album combines your smooth Jamaican top artists with hard hitting American artists.  For example, one of our favorite tracks from this album is Ganja Smugglin’ from The Expendables with Eek-A-Mouse.  The original track was already great on it’s own, but throw in Eek-A-Mouse into the mix and you got something mind blowing.  Other notable artists found in Dub Rockers include Slightly Stoopid with Capleton and Inner Circle,  John Brown’s Body with Peetah Morgan, Rebelution with I Wayne, SOJA with Tamika and Gentlemen, Anuhea with Tarrus Riley.
