New label, new album, New Kingston

New York City’s prominent independant label Easy Star Records just grew a little larger last week as it announced it’s newest member of the family New Kingston. As one of the hardest working bands in the industry, New Kingston naturally fits in representing the Easy Star family with Easy Star All-StarsPassafire, Rebelution, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Cas Haley, John Brown’s Body and many many more by its side. For New Kingston, this is huge news to have such a juggernaut of a label backing it’s creativity.

New Kingston, the Brooklyn natives has had an extremely busy career, endlessly touring almost non-stop with acts like Collie Buddz, The Green, Easy Star All-Stars, Tribal Seeds and many more while releasing two self-released albums in a span of roughly eight years.

“New Kingston definitely stands out in the current scene,” says Easy Star CEO Eric Smith. “Their show is dynamic and exciting, they are one of the hardest working bands we have ever met, and every other artist we talk to has nothing but positive things to say about them. Musically, we feel they bring something different to the label, something that feels current, and at the same, brings us back to our earliest days of releasing reggae in New York.”

The good news just doesn't end there. The three brothers and father which form New Kingston are set to release their third full length album titled Kingston City under the new label January 27, 2015 which includes twelve tracks with guest appearances from Tribal Seeds, Kimie Miner, Sister Carol, The Wailing Souls, and the late reggae legend Sugar Minott.

Mark your calendars because preorders for Kingston City will begin December 2014. For more information about New Kingston, give them a follow on Facebook.
